Message from Mrs Birch

Mrs Birch
Mrs Birch - Headteacher

This week our children in Year 6 received their SATs results and spent time in their new secondary schools. It is all becoming a bit real that they are soon moving on! We were incredibly proud of the children for how well they performed in their SATs and the results they received – well done to you all. We hope you all enjoyed your time at your new schools.

Also this week, we were visited by HH Trampolining and all of the children had a chance to try out their air track. We were delighted to receive some wonderful feedback from them, ‘We really enjoyed the 2 days with all the children. They were a credit to the school and very well behaved.’ We are also aware that as a result of their visit, some of our children were asked to trial for their squad. Well done to all who were recognised for their potential.

Staff News

We are incredibly proud of Mrs Dumpleton, Miss Friend and Miss Barnes who have all successfully completed their teacher training this week. They are all such exceptional teachers. As you know, Miss Friend and Miss Barnes are both staying with us here at Galley Hill. Sadly, Mrs Dumpleton is moving on from us as she pursues her passion for working with children with Special Educational Needs. We will miss her greatly but wish her every success as she takes up a teaching role at The Collett School.

School Crossing Patrol

As some of you might be aware, Maria Russell, our school crossing patrol lady has been on long-term sick for some time. We miss her dearly but have been so lucky to have Mandy as a fantastic stand in. Unfortunately, Mandy is now moving to the seaside (we’re not jealous at all!) so today was her last day with us. We are so grateful to Mandy for keeping our school community safe and wish her well in her new home.

This will mean that from now until the end of term, there will be no crossing patrol on Gadebridge Road. The council are trying to recruit a replacement and a leaflet about this will be coming home with the children.

Open Classrooms

Thank you to all parents who attended open classrooms after school yesterday to visit your child’s new room and teacher. We hope you found this useful for being able to locate them in September and to put a face to a name. We know the children really enjoyed their transition morning and it was fantastic to see so many excited faces.

Dinner Money

As we are nearing the end of the school year please can we remind you, that if you currently pay for school dinners then please ensure that your child's account is clear by Wednesday 23rd July. Even if your child no longer has school lunches, if there is an outstanding amount on their account then this does need to be cleared. If you are unsure if you have an outstanding balance then you can check this on your Arbor account, or give the office a call.

Parent Governor required

Dear Parents and Carers

We are currently seeking applications for the role of Parent Governor on our school’s Governing Body. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of the school and to represent the parent community. Any parent or carer of a Galley Hill pupil is eligible to stand for election. You do not need prior experience - just a willingness to learn and a commitment to improving outcomes for all pupils. To express your interest or for more information please email me, Tracey Hunter at Thunter@galleyhill.herts.sch.uk
