World Book Day
Year 2 had a great day taking part in World Book Day. The theme this year was 'share a story' and we spent the day sharing lots of stories!
We started the day sharing our books from home and discussing why we liked them. Then we explored a familiar story 'Goldilocks and The Three Bears'. We talked about it being a traditional tale and about the features of these kinds of stories. Then we were told that we were going to be authors of our very own books about what Goldilocks did after she left the three bear's house!
We created our books over the course of the day and illustrated them and then at the end of the day we shared them with Year 5 Sapphire!
Learning to Learn about Other Cultures Day
This Learning to Learn Day was all about learning through other cultures.
Year 2 learnt about the Polynesian culture. All the children were very excited to see things that they recognised from the film Moana.
They learnt about where the Polynesian islands are, all about some stories and legends and they even learnt how to hula dance! They developed their curiosity skills to start the day with a spot the difference and then they painted some traditional Maori masks.
As part of our learning in DT we went to Saffron Indian Restaurant to try some food. We are learning about food from around the world and where it comes from. We are so grateful that we had the opportunity to try all the delicious Indian food.
We had the opportunity to go to two Sports Festivals this half term.
Some of our learning from Autumn Term.
Our Topic for Autumn term was Castles and Coronations.
