THURSDAY 23RD OCTOBER

Everyone has had a good sleep and we have had a good breakfast ready for the day! You would all be shocked to see the amount of apples eaten along with bacon, hash browns, beans, cereals and toast!!

Check back this evening for more updates!

We would like to apologise now for any call and response songs shared at home! We have learnt so many whilst we have been here, some of us even know how to lead them!!

GROUP 1

This morning, THERE IS NO I IN TEAM, started the day with a good breakfast ready to head off to the Jacob’s Ladder. It was rather cold and windy today but we powered through in the end!

Maya, Grace and Marni went first, climbing on the beams, supporting their team mates to get as high as possible. All the girls made quick work of it!  Alfie and Mustafa reached the highest heights of the group only one away from the top! Connell was an amazing team player belaying for nearly everyone even though it was cold - well done Connell!

After a quick pit-stop back at base to add more layers of clothing to keep us warm (and then detailing each item to Mrs Spooner!) we set off for Survivor.  In teams we built different shelters.  Mustafa, Freddie, Alfie D and Connell had to adapt their ideas but ended up with a sturdy A frame shelter.  Next we tried our hands at fire lighting using flint, steal and some cotton wool. Mustafa, Emily and Maya showed amazing resilience when lighting their cotton wool.  We all created a human wind shield and let out a cheer when they did it! Harley was a complete pro using the flint and steel and lit his cotton wool in two tries! We all managed to light our mini fires in the end!

After a delicious lunch of cheeseburgers and chips, we had some down time and enjoyed some music, football and chill time with friend.

After lunch, our first activity was the vertical challenge.  We had to climb a ladder, tyres, climbing wall and then a scramble net.  Darcie and Connell made quick work of it getting all the way to the top.  Cooper had a short pitstop before climbing to the summit. Everyone made it onto the challenge wall - go team!!

Our final activity for the day was zip wire.  Unfortunately the heavens opened and we all got very wet! Everyone climbed the tower and majority went down the zip!  Harley has discovered a new talent - helping his team get out of the harnesses.

GROUP 2

The Best Lidders had a good sleep and were ready for our breakfast. Our first activity was survivor, building a shelter was a real challenge in the blustery wind. Next we had a go at wood carving. Faye clearly has a hidden skill, she was a natural. Afterwards we had a very slow stroll to Jacob’s ladder. Riley and Helaina bravely volunteered to go first and reached the top even though the spaces were taller than them. George and Rada went next showing super team work. Tilly, Emmy, Anayah ,Jack and Lily really pushed themselves to get to the 4th run up. The best Lidders demonstrated fantastic teamwork by supporting each other.
We were all pumped for the zip wire.  We have a bunch of daredevils, who show no fear. Riley zipped along upside down like spider-man. Helaina was also upside down while doing the splits. Rada did a super-man pose as he flew through the air and George flapped like a bird. our last activity was vertical and it took every last bit of energy we had. It was blowing a gale, raining sideways and freezing cold. Riley, George and Rada were ready for the challenge. Climbing to to top twice. Helaina sped up the course, like a rat up a drainpipe.
Breaking news, Tilly’s tooth finally fell out this morning.

GROUP 3

On our last full day Shooting Stars started with Climbing. Freya paved the way and went straight to the top! Closely followed by Marshal!

Next was survivor. We all made shelters in the woods using rope and tarp. Kai and Fillip worked hard as a team and built a great shelter. We then learnt how to whittle. Amy showed off a new skill, she was fantastic at it. Making fire was definitely this teams speciality,  Georgie was the first to light her fire and Frankie became queen floof collector, think she is slowly creating a small sheep!

Sam was extremely brave on vertical challenge and gave it a good go. Emilio got straight to the top  even-though it was so cold and then he hung there happily relaxing! Mia was pleased she gave it go although she was very cold, literally impossible for her to wear anymore layers!!!!

Lastly was problem solving. The whole of Shooting Stars worked together with great team work. They had to do one task in silence. It was the quietest they have been all week !!

Everyone has had a fantastic last day but are looking forward to coming home too!!

GROUP 4

Plb's were very pleased for the later breakfast slot this morning- the extra 10 mins in bed seemed like hours 😀

Our first activity of the day was survivor, first task was to put up the shelters. The team worked well together, with Henry's scout skills shinning through, especially his knot tying skills and Daniel also was really enjoying this task. Next job was to feather some sticks, Everly was a natural. Last task was to light a fire using a flint and steal to set light to some cotton wool everyone enjoyed using them to warm their hands, especially Rory.

Our next activity was climbing which I think was a team favourite. Everyone took part and tried their best with a lot of the group reaching the top, including Alfie and Evan.

We then had lunch and letters as well as a little while to play games and relax then off to our next activity which was problem solving. We tackled a series of different tasks and riddles Maddie was in her element, Logan and Ruby worked really hard and showed great team spirit.

Last up for the day was the vertical challenge and if it wasn't a challenge enough the winds and pouring rain definitely added to the challenge. Tate gave it his all, he was freezing and soaked through but he did not give up showing excellent resilience.

We are now enjoying our last evening activity which is a quiz! So far we have a sink or float round and songs.

Tomorrow our day is still packed with well... packing, moving suitcases, stripping our beds and our final activities of the week.
