Today we are going to be thinking about a story called Hey, Little Ant by Phillip and Hannah Hoose. You can watch the story here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3UjsvXg7Q0

This story is all about a boy who meets an ant and wants to squash him flat! The ant, understandably, doesn’t want that to happen so is trying to persuade the boy not to do that and to leave him alone! Ant gives good reasons why it should stay alive, the author also understands the reasons why someone would want to kill it but offers counter suggestions. In the end, the reader is asked for their opinion.

Think about a place that you would want people to go to. Why should people go to your place of interest?

Why might people not want to go to your place and what counter suggestions can you offer to show that these reasons might be flawed?

Let the reader decide whether to go or not – knowing you have given then some very good reasons why they should.

Using Resource 4 Y4 Persuasion National Portrait Gallery poster as a model, create a poster with key concerns from young children as to why they might  not want to visit the chosen place and some facts to counteract these thoughts.

Art

Today we’re looking at artistic styles that involve portraits and we’re going to focus on Pop Art a bright and colourful artistic movement. To start with we would like you to read up on either Andy Warhol or Roy Lichtenstein two key artists in the movement.

We would then like you to experiment with the style to start with have a go at the sunglasses activity and if you complete that why not take some pictures and try and colour them in a Pop Art style.

Spelling
Choose 10 words from the 3/4 word list and use them in a sentence. If you want to do a little extra you might want to do some rainbow writing, pyramid spelling, an acrostic poem or a nonsense story.

If you feel like you’re missing your friends – why not send them an email?
On PurpleMash you can use:
https://www.purplemash.com/app/links/2email#/inbox to send messages to anyone in Year 4.
