Activities for Friday
English
Today we are going to be thinking about a story called Hey, Little Ant by Phillip and Hannah Hoose. You can watch the story here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3UjsvXg7Q0
This story is all about a boy who meets an ant and wants to squash him flat! The ant, understandably, doesn’t want that to happen so is trying to persuade the boy not to do that and to leave him alone! Ant gives good reasons why it should stay alive, the author also understands the reasons why someone would want to kill it but offers counter suggestions. In the end, the reader is asked for their opinion.
Think about a place that you would want people to go to. Why should people go to your place of interest?
Why might people not want to go to your place and what counter suggestions can you offer to show that these reasons might be flawed?
Let the reader decide whether to go or not – knowing you have given then some very good reasons why they should.
Using Resource 4 Y4 Persuasion National Portrait Gallery poster as a model, create a poster with key concerns from young children as to why they might not want to visit the chosen place and some facts to counteract these thoughts.
