The children have been working really hard the last few weeks.
In DT, we have been exploring different types of bags, designing a bag and have begun sewing our bags, we can't wait to see them finished. ππΌπππ§³
In Science, we've been learning about our teeth and how to keep them healthy. We know why children lose teeth and we know that if adults lose a tooth it will not grow back. We all knew exactly how to keep our teeth healthy, including flossing, brushing twice a day for two minutes, not eating too many sweets or fizzy drinks and seeing a dentist regularly. π¦·πͺ₯
In English, we have been looking at persuasion texts and are currently writing an oral presentation to persuade people to visit a place of interest; we've picked some exciting places, including Lapland UK, Whipsnade Zoo, Muligan's Crazy golf to name but a few. ποΈβοΈπ―π
In PE we have been practising our balancing skills and this week we're overjoyed to have the equipment (including the wall gymnasium) out to practise balancing on.
We still have lots more learning to do before the holidays. We will be finding out about digestion, practising our reasoning skills in maths and writing some poetry in English.
Keep practising your times tables and also our Christmas Songs.

What a lot of fun we had this afternoon at our chocolate workshop.
We did lots of activities. We designed a chocolate bar wrapper using real wrappers for inspiration. We weighed and bagged 20g of chocolate drops and decorated a bag to store all our goodies in. Finally, we dipped marshmallows into melted chocolate and then made our own chocolate lolly which we decorated.
After the activities the laddie talked to us about the cacao pod, where chocolate comes from, who discovered chocolate first and how the cacao pod is turned into the delicious chocolate we all enjoy eating.
Next we got to taste lots of different flavoured chocolate, lemon, coffee, milk, caramel and ruby chocolate. We also got to taste a teeny piece of raw chocolate (it was really bitter and we didn't really like it!)
We had an excellent afternoon and learnt a lot.
Take a look at our photos in the album at the bottom of the blog page....

Gosh, we have been super duper busy these last few weeks.
We had Mental Health Day where we all wore something yellow and learnt about why it is just as important to look after our mental health as our physical health and we looked at ways in which we can do this.
We have also been taking part in some Black History Month activities. In Coral class we learnt about the athlete Katarina Johnson - Thompson and all her sporting achievements including an Olympic Silver Medal from the Paris 2024 Games.

We also took part in an African Drumming Workshop where Martin showed us how to play some rhythms on the drums.

We then learnt about the origins of the Nottinghill Carnival, created our own carnival masks and had a mini classroom carnival.

We have had a really busy couple of weeks.
In Geography we have been learning all about Central America.
We have been using the rhyme Big Gorillas Eat Hotdogs Not Cold Pizza to help us remember the 7 countries of South America.
In Science we have been learning about 'States of Matter' (liquids, solids and gases). We have investigated whether the gas in fizzy drinks weighs anything and had some surprising results - why not ask us all about it.
In maths we have been learning place value to 4 digit numbers and are really good at recognising thousands, hundreds, tens and ones digits.
Today is TA appreication day and we couldn't surivive in Coral class without the wonderful Mrs Reardon so I'm sure you will all join me in saying thank you for being our totally amazing TA.
