Phonics

Mrs Swaine went to visit Harrow Fire station. While she was there she did a listening activity of the different sounds around the station.
Here are some of the sounds Mrs Swaine heard!

Activity - Can you pause the video after each sound and see if you can guess what the sounds are?

These are the sounds that you heard:

  • The fire engine
  • The fire engine siren
  • Fire fighters alert alarm for going to an emergency
  • The printer that tells them where the emergency is
  • The shutters on the back of the truck

Maths

  • During Mrs Swaine’s fire station visit she went on a number hunt around the station.
  • Mrs Swaine was amazed at how many numbers she could find!
  • Activity - Can you pause the video and have a go at telling your adult the numbers that you could see?

Topic - Writing under the table!

One of my favourite activities of all time for developing arm and finger strength.
You will need:

  • Paper
  • Pencils, colouring pens or crayons. (Crayons and colouring pens are the best for this so you can press hard).
  • Sellotape
  • Table or chair

You may find that a dining room table is too tall for your child.  The best position is one they only need to stretch a little bit. Their shoulder will only be off the floor a little bit. So you may find that a dining room chair or a smaller table is a better height.
