Activities for Monday
To use conjunctions to persuade
What do you know about pirates? You have one minute to write down as many things as you can.
I then want you to watch this story The Pirate Cruncher!
What did you think about the story? What would you have done if you were one of the pirates?
A conjunction is a word that links two ideas together words like: ‘and’ ‘because’ ‘eventhough’ ‘however’
How many conjunctions can you write down?
Today you are going to practise your persuasion skills on Captain Purplebeard!
I would like you to draw a line down your page.
On one side of the page can you write reasons to go on the otherside can you write reasons to stay.
I would then like you to write 5 examples on each side.
I would like you to try to use a conjunction in each example.
I think Captain Purplebeard should stay home because he doesn’t know this fiddler and shouldn’t trust him.
I think the Captain should go adventuring as he needs the treasure and it would make him even wealthier.
Choose 10 words from the 3/4 word list and use them in a sentence. If you want to do a little extra you might want to do some rainbow writing, pyramid spelling, an acrostic poem or a nonsense story.
Today you will be completing some comprehension that’s all about William Wallace the man who Braveheart was based on! There are three challenges for you to choose from: one star is your accessible option, two stars is tricky and three stars can be very challenging.
In maths we are moving on to looking at data, tables and graphs. To start with today I suggest you spend some time exploring this link https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z7rcwmn/articles/z8dp8mn
After that you have two graphs today and some questions to answer using that data.
If you finish there is an extension on PurpleMash based around different charts and when you would expect to use them.
If you want to practise your times tables why not have a go at TTRS or one of these games: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/7-11-years/times-tables

Music & French
Look below for a fabulous lesson from Mrs Huscroft! You have both lessons this week so they will be a bit shorter. No more than 30 mins on each.
If you feel like you’re missing your friends – why not send them an email?
On PurpleMash you can use: https://www.purplemash.com/app/links/2email#/inbox to send messages to anyone in Year 4.
We miss you and can’t wait to see you soon!
