Activities for Monday
English
To identify the characters and settings in a story |
What are the important things in a story? For a lot of people the most important parts of a story are the characters. Think of your favourite character in a film or a book or television show. Why are they your favourite? Think of villains. Why are they interesting villains? In a play we call the characters the cast.
Think about where some of your favourite stories are set. Does where the story is set add to why you like it? Could it be set somewhere else and still work? In a play these often appear at the beginning of a scene which is a little like a chapter in a book. |
You will need to watch a film of your choice (I would suggest one that is favourite of yours that you have seen before).
While watching you need to make notes.
You will have just collected the cast and the settings of your film.

Spelling
Choose 10 words from the 3/4 word list and use them in a sentence. If you want to do a little extra you might want to do some rainbow writing, pyramid spelling, an acrostic poem or a nonsense story.
Reading
‘Extending Reading Skills’ comprehension activity.
Maths
Today in Maths, you will be reviewing what a fraction is and how to colour in a fraction of an amount. There is a PowerPoint for you to go through first then questions for you to work through.
If you get through all that and would like a challenge have a go at completing the quarters and halves activity where you’ll need to think about fractions and its link to decimals.
If you want to practise your times tables why not have a go at TTRS or one of these games: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/7-11-years/times-tables
