Phonics:
Watch and join in with Mrs Smyth’s flash cards then we know how much you all enjoy Ms Handel’s Bingo game so here is another one. Join in using all of the sounds we have learnt so far.

Literacy: Our story this week to follow our topic of space is ‘Whatever next?’ You can listen to Ms Handel read this story with some props or you can follow this link to watch it on YouTube, or both!

Maths:
For Maths this week we will be starting to learn about weight. This is the first time we have taught weight this year but your child may already have an understanding of it from when you have done cooking activities. We will again give you ideas of how you can learn about weight at home but please feel free to adapt or make up your own activities if your child will engage more. For today’s lesson watch Ms Handel’s introduction to weight then for an activity: Show your child a range of different weighted objects, ask them which object they think will be the heaviest, get them to hold it in their hand. Now which object do they think will be lighter? (you will need to keep reinforcing the language heavy/light, heavier/lighter). Get them to hold the heavy and light object in either hand and ask them if they were right, you can repeat this for as many objects as you like.
