Summer 2 Term 2026

Summer Term Learning Update
Welcome back to Nursery! We are so excited to begin the new term on Monday 1st June, and we have lots of wonderful things planned.
This half-term, our topic will be Animals and Transitions
Below is an overview of some of the key areas we will be exploring:
Phonics
In Phonics this half-term, we will continuing our focus on oral blending and initial sounds but we will also be beginning to look at Basics 2 and beginning to learn our sounds. Please check out the tapestry post for more information.
Maths
This term in Maths, we will continue to develop our understanding of number. We will be learning to read, write and recognise to 10. We will be playing number games, learning to count accurately, singing number songs, and practising subitising (recognising quantities without counting).
PE
In PE, we will be learning to get dressed and undressed independently for our sessions. It is important that your child has a PE kit in school. Please refer to the Tapestry post for further details.
As we will be getting ready for sports day, PE will be most Mondays in this half term.
Dough Disco
As part of our Physical Development learning, the children will take part in a fun activity called ‘Dough Disco’. Each child has their own piece of play dough, and we practise moving it in different ways to strengthen finger muscles—perfect for early writing skills!
Woodlands
On Alternate Fridays starting Friday 8th June, we will be enjoying our Woodlands sessions—outdoor learning adventures! Please make sure your child brings:
-
Wellington boots
-
A waterproof coat
We have puddle suits available, but you are welcome to send in your own for your child to use.
