It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome the children back to school this week. The children in Year 3 started the half term with a fantastic learning experience with their trip to Celtic Harmony. It has been such a joy to speak to the children about this opportunity. They have been so enthused about the Stone Age and I have heard from the adults who took them that the behaviour and engagement of the children was simply fantastic.
Sharing Assemblies
Many thanks to Year 6 for sharing their Activity Week and PGL experiences yesterday. It was brilliant to hear about the memories for life that they have made.
Our class sharing assemblies begin next week with Onyx sharing their learning on Thursday (13th November) at 9am. Any parent wishing to attend should come to the office at this time. Also sharing their learning this term will be Team Emerald on 20th November and Team Amethyst on 27th November.
Year 6 SATs Meeting for Parents
We would like to invite parents of children in Year 6 to a short meeting about the children’s Statutory Assessment Tests, including how we support them to prepare and what the test week is like. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions. Mrs Spooner and Mrs Toncheva will be hosting this session on Monday 17th November at 5:40pm and we anticipate it lasting about half an hour.
Year 5 PGL Meeting for Parents
On the same day, (Monday 17th November), Mrs Spooner will also be holding a meeting for parents of children currently in Year 5 about the Year 6 residential to PGL which takes place in the Autumn Term each year. Again this will be an opportunity to find out a little more and ask questions ahead of deciding whether or not you would like your child to attend next year. The meeting will take place at 5pm.
Staff News
We are delighted to welcome a student teacher from The Collett School, Mrs Price, to Galley Hill. She will be working alongside Miss Rolph in Year 1 Jade for this half term. I am sure you will all join me in welcoming her.
Children in Need
Here at Galley Hill we will be supporting Children In Need day on Friday 14th November. Children are invited to come to school that day wearing something spotty/yellow/brown and we ask for a £1 contribution to Children in Need which can be handed in to their class teacher. From Tuesday this week the office will also be selling Pudsey merchandise - wrist bands and badges which are available for £1 each.
