Welcome back to the final half term of the school year. It seems incredible that we have reached this point of the year already. We hope that all our families enjoyed the hot weather that half term brought and it has been great to have the children back in school raring to go.
During this week, and the week before half term, senior leaders have been out in classrooms observing the teaching and learning taking place and as ever, we have been blown away! We have particularly noticed the children’s ability to explain the thinking behind their answers and to build on points made by their friends. All our work on vocabulary development is certainly making a difference!
Statutory Assessments – Year 1 and Year 4
Next week, there are further statutory assessments (those set by the Department for Education). Our children in Year 1 will be completing their Phonics Screener Check and children in Year 4 will be completing their Multiplication Tables Check. We know that the children, staff and parents have all been working so hard with these key life skills to ensure the children are ready for the next stages of their education. We know that all of the children will do an amazing job!
Open Classrooms
Our next open classrooms is taking place this Monday (8th June) from 3:15pm to 3:45pm. As ever, this is an informal opportunity for you to visit your child’s classroom to see the learning that they have been doing in their books and on display. If you would like to attend, please enter through the door your child usually leaves from after all of the children have been dismissed.
Sharing Assembly
Our remaining sharing assemblies of the year are:
Wednesday 10th June – 3 Ruby
Thursday 11th June – 2 Diamond
Thursday 25th June – 1 Jade
Thursday 2nd July – Reception Garnet
All of these assemblies are taking place at 9am. Parents wishing to attend should come to the school office.
Bikes and Scooters on the Playground
Just a reminder that bikes and scooters should not be ridden on the playground or pathways around the school site before or after school. While we very much encourage these active ways of journeying to school and have parking areas available, it becomes dangerous with the number of people around if they are ridden during these periods. Please ask your child to push their bike or scooter and then get on once they have left the school site. Many thanks for your support with this.
Friday 3rd July 9am to 10am, SEND parent coffee morning
Our Mental Health Support Team worker Shania, will be joining our coffee morning. She will explain what support her service can offer and will speak about how you can support your child at home with anxiety. We look forward to seeing you there.
