Today, all of the children have been participating in Art Day. This has given each year group the opportunity to explore one influential artist in detail and have a go at producing work in their style. Artists being studied have included Vincent Van Gogh, Georgia O’Keefe and Leonardo Da Vinci. The children certainly seem to have been having a brilliant time developing their cultural understanding and using their creative flair. Many thanks to Miss Hosein, our Art Lead, and all of the class staff for organising such a brilliant opportunity for the children. We hope they enjoy telling you all about the learning they have done today.
Occasional Day
Just a reminder that this Monday (22nd June) is our Occasional Day and the school will be closed to all pupils.
Lockdown Drill
As you will know from previous communications, it is now mandatory for us to have a termly lockdown drill within school. At Galley Hill, we try to ensure that this is as low-key as possible for the children as we do not want to cause fear and alarm. Yesterday, we held our lockdown drill for this term. The children all returned to their classrooms (if they were elsewhere in the school) and sat quietly at their desks while staff closed all of the windows, doors and blinds. As previously, the children all participated marvellously.
Sharing Assembly
A reminder that Team Jade will be presenting their sharing assembly on Thursday (25th June). Any parents or carers wishing to attend should report to the school office at 9am. Team Garnet will be doing their sharing assembly on Thursday 2nd July, also at 9am.
Amber Heat Alert
There is an Amber heat alert in place for next week so please can you ensure that you send your child to school with a water bottle and a hat and make sure that they have applied sun cream.
