This week began with our fantastic Health and Well-Being day and I want to start by saying a huge THANK YOU to Mrs Thomson and Mrs Reynolds for their hard work in organising the opportunity for all of the children. The range of activities that children were participating in, such as glow dodgeball, yoga and karate, was exceptional and I am sure they would have all come home full of excitement about the day they had!
Also this week, we had our transition day. We certainly enjoyed welcoming our new Reception children and seeing the excitement of all of the other children who spent time with their new classes for the first time. We hope our Year 6 children all enjoyed their day in their secondary schools. Thank you to all parents who came into school on Thursday to say hello to their child’s teacher for next year.
Welcome Meetings
In September, we will be holding our usual ‘Welcome Meetings’ presented by the class teachers for each year group. This will be an opportunity for the teachers to go over the key information for the year and for parents to ask any general questions they might have.
Our Welcome Meetings will be held at 3:20pm on the following dates:
Year 4 - Thursday 3rd September (in Coral)
Year 3 - Friday 4th September (in Emerald)
Year 6 - Monday 7th September (in Topaz)
Year 2 - Tuesday 8th September (in Pearl)
Year 5 - Thursday 10th September (in Sapphire)
Year 1 - Friday 11th September (in Jade)
Anyone wishing to attend should enter through the appropriate classroom door once all children have been dismissed.
Communication Policy
For many years, we have outlined our procedures for communications between school and parents through our newsletters. Good communication is extremely important to us to support your children. Therefore, to ensure that we have a consistent approach from all staff, we have now written a communications policy. This can be found on our website: Communications Policy
Please ensure that you have familiarised yourselves with the key points of the policy. We have reinforced the message we give that all email communications need to be via the admin email address (admin@galleyhill.herts.sch.uk) Please do not be offended if you email an alternative address and do not get a response.
End of Year Reports
A reminder that all children will receive their written end of year report on Friday 17th July. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we will be emailing the reports out this year. If you would prefer a paper copy, please speak to your child’s class teacher or send them an email via the admin@galleyhill.herts.sch.uk email address.
Colour Run
We are very much looking forward to our charity Colour Run on Tuesday, in memory of our wonderful midday supervisor and lollipop lady, Mrs Russell. We hope that many of you are able to join us and a separate letter has been sent today with the final details you will need for the afternoon. If your child wishes to participate but you have not yet given consent via Arbor, please ensure that you do so as soon as possible. No child will be able to take part without parental consent for the event.
Year 5/6 Production – Matilda
We are also looking forward to seeing our Upper Key Stage Two production of Matilda next week. We would please like to request that those with tickets who are coming to attend the performance start the queue outside of the main front doors, under the covered area. It has been getting very dangerous with people crowding into the entrance foyer. Many thanks for your support with this.
