It has been another busy week here at Galley Hill! On Tuesday, we hosted sports leader training for the Dacorum School Sports Network (DSSN) with children from across the district coming to learn how to support their peers with sporting activities. We really value our partnership with the DSSN, particularly due to the number of sporting opportunities they provide for our children. This includes the Girls Biggest Football tournament that took place on Wednesday for all of the girls in Key Stage Two. Despite the rain, most of the girls came back having really enjoyed the experience.
We have ended the week with our ‘wear yellow’ day to recognise World Mental Health day. Well-being is another important aspect of our work at Galley Hill and we know the children value our work on emotional literacy and the chance to use their feelings journals.
Story Telling Circle
If you have been on the Adventure Playground this week, you will have no doubt noticed our story telling circle. The large story telling chair was purchased with some of the money raised from our Colour Run (the rest has been donated to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and Hillside Animal Sanctuary) in memory of our wonderful lollipop lady and midday supervisor, Maria Russell. We are so grateful to all who supported this event. We also need to say a huge THANK YOU to the Friends and Relatives of Galley Hill School (FROGS) who bought the little toadstools to go alongside it with money that they had raised. We hope the children enjoy using this special space as we remember a very special member of staff.
Parent Consultation Evening
A reminder that parent consultation evenings are taking place on Wednesday and Thursday next week (14th and 15th October). You can book to meet your child’s teacher through Arbor. If you are having any difficulty with this, please contact the school office who will be more than happy to assist you. We hope that all parents are able to attend to discuss their child’s progress.
