Message from Mrs Birch

Mrs Birch
Mrs Birch - Headteacher

The rest of us were very jealous this week as our Year 4 children all participated in a chocolate workshop! This was in connection to their history work all about the Ancient Mayan civilisation. This is just one example of the many opportunities we try to provide for our children beyond classroom learning. We really hope the children all enjoyed the experience and the tasty treats they got to take home from it.

Year 6 Activities Week Assembly

On Thursday (5th December), the children from Year 6 will be sharing their experiences from their recent Activity Week. Both the children who went away on the residential to Rock UK and the children who remained in school will be sharing their experiences. We welcome parents and carers to come and hear about their adventures at 9am on Thursday.

Open Classrooms

Also on Thursday will be our next open classrooms event. As ever, all classes will be open from 3:15pm until 3:45pm for parents to be able to visit to see your children’s learning in their books and on displays.

Christmas Jumper Day

As is Galley Hill tradition, we will be holding our annual Christmas jumper day to coincide with our Christmas dinner on Wednesday 11th December. This event is just for fun and there is no cost involved. Children can choose to wear a Christmas jumper, t-shirt or dress with their usual school uniform.

PARENT WORKSHOP ***SAVE THE DATE ***

Wednesday 15th January 9am - 10.30 am

‘SUPPORTING YOU AND YOUR CHILD TO UNDERSTAND AND MANAGE BIG EMOTIONS’

We have reinvited Suzanne Stace back, due to positive feedback, from Unlocking Children’s Potential to share with you how vitally important it is for us to work together with you to support your children's mental health and well-being and help manage tricky emotions.

During the session she will share with you the importance of children understanding their emotions, develop their emotional literacy and provide you with practical ways you can support your children to build their resilience and manage their big emotions such as worry, fear, anxiety, anger, attachment and separation. As well as how to support you to respond to them during these more challenging times. In addition she can advise you on supporting your child with improving bed time routines. There will also be an opportunity for you to ask any specific questions or tips on supporting your child to manage their day to day emotions.  Please register your attendance on Arbor under Clubs.

Casual MSA Needed

We are still in need of another casual MSA to take on lunch duties working on an as and when needed basis. If you are interested then please pop in and speak to the office for an application form.
