I am actually in a little bit of disbelief that we have reached the final Friday newsletter of the academic year – time really does fly! It certainly has been quite a year and it is wonderful to reflect back on the children’s fantastic learning, the extracurricular opportunities they have experienced and the joy of being part of this brilliant community. We celebrate all of our many achievements from being graded as ‘good’ in all areas by Ofsted back in the Autumn to our recent successes with the Primary Science Quality Mark and our OPAL Platinum accreditation. None of this would be possible without all of you who make Galley Hill such a special place to be. Thank you to all of our staff, governors and parents, but most importantly our incredible pupils. It is a pleasure to serve you. We hope you all have a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing most of you on Thursday 4th September.
A special mention has to go to those moving on. Our amazing Year 6 children – thank you for your hard work putting together your show of Peter Pan this week. It was truly remarkable and a fantastic way to finish your time here with us at Galley Hill. We wish you all every success at secondary school. Good luck also to the children from other year groups who are leaving Galley Hill at the end of this year. You will all be missed.
Staff News
Sadly, it is also almost time for us to say goodbye to Mrs Dumpleton and Miss Kelly. Both of whom have been fantastic members of our Galley Hill team. As mentioned previously, Mrs Dumpleton is off to fulfil her dream of being an SEND teacher at The Collett School and we all know she is going to be amazing. Miss Kelly was only ever supposed to be with us this one term and we are grateful to the support she has provided in Year 5 since Easter. She is now going to embark on teacher training. We wish them both all the best for their future careers.
We are delighted to be welcoming Mrs Gilmartin to Galley Hill in September. She will be working alongside Miss Penning in 2 Diamond as a student teacher and we are very much looking forward to her being a part of our team.
Welcome Meetings
As with previous years, we are providing the opportunities for parents to come in at the beginning of the school year for a welcome meeting with the teachers in your child’s new year group. These meetings will go through some of the expectations in regard to
the learning in that year group as well as giving the opportunity for other important messages to be shared.
The meetings are all taking place at 3:30pm. You can enter through the door that has direct access to the classroom from the playground / the one your child uses at the start and end of the day.
The dates are as follows:
Year 4 - Thursday 4th September (in Coral)
Year 3 - Friday 5th September (in Ruby)
Year 6 - Monday 8th September (in Topaz)
Year 1 - Tuesday 9th September (in Jade)
Year 2 - Thursday 11th September (in Pearl)
Year 5 - Friday 12th September (in Sapphire)
Carrier Bag
It would be very useful if all children could please bring in a strong, named carrier bag on Monday morning. This is for all of the exercise books that they will be bringing home next week.
Leaver’s Assembly
A final reminder that parents of children in Year 6 are invited to join us at our Leaver’s Assembly on Wednesday (23rd July) at 9am. Following the assembly, there will be a chance to take photographs and light refreshments will be served. We look forward to seeing lots of you. Remember to bring the tissues!
Dinner Money
Please can we remind you that dinner money should be paid for in advance. If you do have an outstanding balance on your child's lunch account then this does need to be cleared by Wednesday 23rd July so all accounts can be reconciled before the new school year. Thank you.
