It has been another busy week here at Galley Hill with Key Stage Two Cross Country, Parents Evenings and our SEND Coffee Morning all going on amongst all of the normal day to day work of the school. We really hope that you found your parent consultations useful and informative – our teachers do work very hard preparing for them. Thank you to everybody who attended and also a thank you to all who spoke with our governors / contributed a comment to our sticky note wall. We will be looking through these comments and discussing the themes and suggestions made.
Parent Code of Conduct
We do have a Parent Code of Conduct that can be accessed via the polices page of our website. A very large majority of parents always conduct themselves in a considerate and respectful manner and we are very grateful for this, particularly as it shows the children how we would want them to behave. We have recently had a few examples of parents approaching other people’s children on the playground to speak to them about their behaviour. We want to remind you that this is a breach of the Parent Code of Conduct. It is essential you always raise concerns with us as a school rather than with other children or their parents. Many thanks for your support with this.
PGL/Activity Week Special Assembly
Year 6 will be presenting an assembly to share the highlights of their exciting week with parents on Thursday 6th November at 9am.
Year 6 Activity Week
Next week, our Year 6 children are all taking part in their activity week and we want to take this opportunity to wish all of them the most brilliant time! While some stay at school to complete a range of exciting activities with Mrs Toncheva, the majority are off to PGL for their residential trip. Good luck with the packing this weekend parents and we hope you can enjoy the peace and quiet next week! Many thanks to Mrs Spooner, Mrs Barnard, Mrs Pullen and Mrs Higgs who are all sacrificing time with their own families to make this trip possible. We really do appreciate it.
Reception/Year 1 Phonics Open Morning
On Friday 24th October, 9-10am, we would like to invite all parents/carers of children in Reception and Year 1 to a phonics open morning, where you will get a chance to watch your child's phonics lesson in their classroom, learn about our phonics scheme and how we teach it, and gain some ideas for how you can support your child with their reading at home. If you would like to attend, you do not need to do anything, just drop your child off at school as normal on the day then come round to the school office. If you attended last year please do come again as we will be sharing some updated resources. We look forward to seeing you!
Year 3 Target Games Event
Well done to our two Year 3 classes who took part in the DSSN Target Games event last week. They competed against 13 other local schools and managed to finish 3rd and 4th. Fantastic effort by all of the children, fabulous result and represented Galley Hill wonderfully.
