As we near the end of 2025, I reflected in assembly this morning on what a fantastic term it has been. The children have all worked so hard to make progress with their learning and I am so proud of them and the staff, who do so much to provide fantastic learning opportunities and experiences.
This week has certainly ended the term in style. Highlights have included the Year 2 trip to Windsor Castle, another Rock Steady concert (where I was once again blown away by the confidence of our children on stage) and our Christmas singalong. Mrs Reynolds has also asked me to give special mention to our Year 4 children who sang at High View Lodge yesterday. I have been told that this was an uplifting experience for all involved and our children and the residents all enjoyed the opportunity very much.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish our whole community a very merry Christmas and every happiness for 2026. We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Tuesday 6th January.
Staff News
In the first half of the Spring term, student teachers traditionally take on a placement in an alternative school. As such, we will briefly be saying goodbye to Miss Reardon as she spends six weeks at a school in Dunstable. In her place, we will be welcoming Miss Myerthall, who will be working in Team Ruby and will be teaching them all day on a Tuesday. We are also delighted to be welcoming Mrs Nash to Galley Hill who will be completing her six week placement with Team Diamond.
Sharing Assemblies
Our programme of class sharing assemblies will continue in the Spring term. Each assembly will be presented at 9am and will be as follows:

Thursday 29th January – Team Pearl
Thursday 12th February – Team Topaz

Christmas Message from the Chair of Governors
As we come to the end of another busy term, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who makes our school such a special place. On behalf of the Governing Body, I would like to express our appreciation to Mrs Birch and her staff for their continued dedication, care and hard work in supporting our children throughout the year. I would also like to thank our parents and carers for your ongoing support and partnership with the school. Working together makes a real difference to our children’s experiences and achievements. Most importantly, thank you to our pupils, who continue to inspire us with their enthusiasm, kindness and resilience. We are proud of all that you have achieved this year.
We are currently seeking applications for the role of Parent Governor on our school’s Governing Body. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of the school and to represent the parent community. Any parent or carer of a Galley Hill pupil is eligible to stand for election. You do not need prior experience - just a willingness to learn and a commitment to improving outcomes for all pupils. To express your interest or for more information please email me, Tracey Hunter at Thunter@galleyhill.herts.sch.uk
We wish you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in the new term.
Warmest wishes,
Tracey Hunter
Chair of Governors
