Children’s Mental Health week is coming up during the week beginning 9th February. Ahead of this, all of the children spent some time in their year groups on Thursday with Shania, our Mental Health Practitioner, and some of her colleagues. During this time, they created collages, whilst working collaboratively with their peers. There was a real buzz in the hall throughout the sessions and we really hope the children enjoyed themselves.
Home-School Agreement
You may remember that before your child started at Galley Hill, you were asked to sign a home-school agreement. As a governing body, we review this annually. This year, we have not made any major changes but are sharing the link for your reference: Galley Hill Home-School Agreement. Please share this once again with your child if you feel this would be helpful to them.
Year 3/4 Times Tables Open Classrooms
We are extremely sorry but due to an unavoidable clash, we have had to change the date of our Times Tables Open Classrooms sessions for parents of children in Years 3 and 4. This will now take place on Tuesday 3rd March at 2:45pm. There will be a short introduction from our Maths Leader, Miss Featherstone, and then there will be an opportunity for you to participate in times table based activities in the classroom with your child. We hope to see lots of parents join us!
Open Classrooms
Just a reminder that our next regular open classrooms session will take place on Thursday (5th February) from 3:15 to 3:45pm. During this time, you are welcome to come into your child’s classroom so you can look at their learning in books and on display. If you wish to attend, please enter through the door your child is usually dismissed from.
Reading Volunteers
At Galley Hill, we are always on the look out for volunteers to come into school to listen to children read. If you have any free time and think you might be able to dedicate some to us each week, please contact the school office. All volunteers will be asked to complete an enhanced DBS and to provide the names of two people who would be able to provide references as part of our safeguarding checks.
Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr
As we approach the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, and subsequently the festival of Eid al-Fitr, if any parents/carers will be celebrating and would like to come in to school to share your family's traditions you would be most welcome. This could be in your child's class, with the year group, or even the whole school! Please inform your child's class teacher or the school office if this is something you would be interested in, we would love to hear from you.
