This week, members of the senior leadership team have been visiting classes to see Maths and Reading lessons. As ever, it has been an absolute pleasure! Your children are all so very engaged and enthusiastic to learn and we have all enjoyed learning new things along with them. We are very proud of our skilled team of teachers and teaching assistants who impart knowledge with precision and ensure that all children reach their full potential. Well done Team Galley Hill!
Items from Home
Please could we once again request support from parents in preventing children bringing items from home (such a toys or trading cards) into school. They are not needed for any reason and we cannot guarantee that things will not be lost or broken. Additionally, we have had some children ‘trading’ items this week which has led to some arguments and upset.
Sharing Assembly
Just a reminder that Team Topaz will be presenting their sharing assembly on Thursday (12th February). Please report to the school office if you would like to attend. Once the children have shared their learning, there will be an opportunity to also go to the classroom to see their books if you would like to and are able to.
Safer Internet Day
This Tuesday, 10th February, is Safer Internet Day. The theme this year is: ‘Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI’. I shared an assembly with the children on this theme on Monday, linking it to our Galley Hill Expectation ‘Be Safe’. They will also be completing some further work in classes. We talked about the fact that Artificial Intelligence can be very useful and can be fun but that, like anything else on the internet, it needs to be used safely and only with adult permission.
Next week is Children's Mental Health Week. Children at Galley Hill have already been celebrating by taking part in workshops led by our Mental Health Support Teams practitioner, and next week we will be delivering an assembly all about the importance of belonging, kindness and looking after one another. For further advice and resources for how to support your child's mental health at home, please do look at the Wellbeing & Mental Health page on our website.
