I hope everyone had a lovely half term despite the rather horrible weather! As ever, it has been brilliant to have the children back in school this week. With the sad news of Mrs Reynold’s leaving at the end of the school year, I have spent much of the week giving potential deputy head candidates a tour of the school. The feedback from them has been resoundingly positive with all noticing the warmth of relationships and sense of belonging that we have all come to value so much at Galley Hill. Comments have also been made about how wonderful and polite our children are. It really has made me proud of Team Galley Hill. Well done all!
Staff News
This week, I am really sad to share with you that Miss Stanbridge will be leaving Galley Hill next Wednesday in order to take a position at a nursery closer to her home. Miss Stanbridge has been a member of our school community, first as a parent, and later as a member of staff for many years. I would like to thank her for her hard work at the school and wish her all the very best for the future. While we are recruiting for a replacement, Mrs Smyth and Mrs Woods will be support Mrs Oakley in Reception Turquoise.
Free Bibles
Just a reminder that Andrew Masters from ‘Discovery Hemel’ will be visiting children in Key Stage 2 next week. As part of his visit the children will be offered a free Bible to take home if they wish. If you do not want your child to receive a Bible, please let us know by email (admin@galleyhill.herts.sch.uk) with FAO and the class teacher’s name in the subject.
Times Tables Open Afternoon
Next Tuesday (3rd March), is our times tables open afternoon for parents of children in Years 3 and 4 at 2:45pm. A reminder that next week is also our next open classrooms event. Anyone wishing to pop into class to have a look at their children’s learning in books and on display is welcome to enter (through the usual classroom doors) after all of the children have been dismissed on Thursday (5th March). This event takes place from 3:15 to 3:45pm.
