Message from Mrs Birch

Mrs Birch
Mrs Birch - Headteacher

Welcome back to the final term of the school year. I cannot quite refer to it as the summer term yet, but I am sure the weather will join in soon! I hope you all had a lovely Easter break.

This week, Mrs Jackson, Mrs Reynolds and I have been meeting with class staff to talk about the progress children have made so far this year and we have been blown away by some of the success stories we have heard. We have also enjoyed working with staff to identify actions for this term to keep the momentum going right through to July. We all want our children to achieve to the very best of their potential and we are grateful to parents for the support you give us with this through things like reading daily with your child, supporting with their homework and providing opportunities for apps such as Times Tables Rockstars or Numbots.

Galley Hill Expectations

As you are all aware, we have three Galley Hill Expectations that form the basis of our Positive Behaviour Policy. These are:

· Be Respectful

· Be Safe

· Be Your Best

This term, I will be focusing my assemblies on our Be Your Best expectation and I look forward to talking with the children about what that means.

Good Luck Miss Barnes!

On the theme of being your best, I am sure that you will all want to join me in wishing Miss Barnes the very best of luck as she travels to Greece next week to represent England at the Taekwon-Do European Championships. We are so incredibly proud of her for being selected and believe she is an incredible role model to our children with her sporting achievements.

Staff News

We are delighted that Mrs Meggitt will be returning to Galley Hill for this term, following her maternity leave. She will be teaching Team Turquoise every Monday. We look forward to seeing her back.

SEND Parent Coffee Morning Friday 15th May at 9am.

A reminder that a member of the ADD-vance team will be joining us to explain how they can support you and your family. Offering advice and support.

ADD-vance is a registered charity supporting families & professionals involved in the care of children with ADHD, Autism or a related condition in Hertfordshire. Their Specialist Coaches and Trainers run support groups, workshops, courses, training and coaching services.

Water Bottles

Now the weather is (hopefully!) starting to get warmer, please can we remind you to send your child in to school with a water bottle each day. We have an increasing number of children coming to the office to borrow cups every day.

St Georges Day - Thursday 23rd April

St George's day is on Thursday 23rd April and if anyone is a Squirrels/Beavers/Cubs/Scouts/Rainbows/Brownies/Guides member then they are more than welcome to wear their uniform on Thursday to celebrate St George!
