Activities for Thursday

To persuade

You are finishing with the final paragraph today. This is where you focus on your audience’s future. How will visiting your location change their life.

If you’ve chosen a beach it might inspire them to study oceanology or become an Olympic swimmer.

If you’ve chosen a theme park it might make them want to become an architect or a builder.

You want to make them excited about the impact this visit might have!

You will write need to write your final paragraph.  This is your last chance to persuade someone to visit so make it good!

For example

It is my opinion that this is not an opportunity to be missed. This life altering trip would be a once in a lifetime experience. Every man, woman and child should be given the chance to see this magical place. Wouldn't you one day love to see a character you created walking around the park making someone else's dream come true? This trip could be the start of your future as a world class animator! Don't delay visit today!

Choose 10 words from the 3/4 word list and use them in a sentence. If you want to do a little extra you might want to do some rainbow writing, pyramid spelling, an acrostic poem or a nonsense story.

It's Thursday so that means it's time to DEAR - drop everything and read! You should, at some point during the day, drop whatever it is you're doing, get comfy and read for 20 minutes.
If you end up somewhere good send us a pic – we’d love to see what you’ve been reading!

Today we are looking at symmetry. Continue working through your home learning booklet and I will be uploading additional extensions each day for you to have a go at.

For symmetry you can start by looking at this link: which looks and there is also a PowerPoint for you to explore and an extension for you to have a go at after your challenge – one of which involves drawing.

If you want to practise your times tables why not have a go at TTRS or one of these games:

Last week we started learning about mountains and where in the UK they are. Work through the powerpoint from the resources below. Mountains can be very different but here are some of the main features:

Summit – top of a mountain

Foot – bottom of a mountain

Valley – area of low land between mountains

Outcrop – rock formation visible from the surface

Ridge – a long narrow high section of land

Slope – an area of ground increasing in height

Snow line – above this line snow and ice cover it all year

Plateau – area of flat high ground

Tree line – the highest point that forests are found

Face – side of a mountain

Using this information can you draw and label a mountain?

Today’s computing is going to be on PurpleMash – we are continuing to look at spreadsheets.
To help with this we are including some step by step instructions for you to have a go at – as they explain them A LOT better than we can.

Today you are focusing on Lesson 3.

If you feel like you’re missing your friends – why not send them an email?
On PurpleMash you can use: to send messages to anyone in Year 4.

Please remember to send us any work you complete at some point during the day on either PurpleMash or through to either or

We miss you and can’t wait to see you soon!
