Activities for Tuesday

To add detail

To start with can you write as much as you remember from the story yesterday.

Once you have done that please rewatch the story

 – did you get it all or did you miss anything?

What do you think you would’ve done as a pirate would you have wanted to go or would you not have trusted the fiddler?

Read through the two persuasive examples. Which do you think was more convincing? What conjunctions could you see?

Using your conjunctions and sentences from yesterday to help you I would like you to write a letter to Captain Purplebeard either persuading him to stay home or go exploring.

If you are writing to persuade him to stay home you will pretend to be one of his crew mates.

If you are writing to persuade him to go exploring into danger you will pretend to be the fiddler.

You need to use paragraphs and conjunctions.

Choose 10 words from the 3/4 word list and use them in a sentence. If you want to do a little extra you might want to do some rainbow writing, pyramid spelling, an acrostic poem or a nonsense story.

Today, we are going to be finding out what our reading speed is! You can follow this link: which will take you to a website. You will read through some text on the screen out loud and the website will time it for you! Let’s see how you do this week!

You’re continuing your work on graphs today. You’ll be looking at graphs and using the information to answer questions that involving adding sections together or finding the difference between two sections.

There is a PowerPoint to go through, challenges and an extension. There is also a PurpleMash activity if you’d like to complete it online.

Remember read the graphs carefully – along the x axis up the y, labels, take your time and interpret the questions – think about what you are being asked to do, find the sum (add them together), find the difference (take one away from the other)

If you want to practise your times tables why not have a go at TTRS or one of these games:

Complete a fitness based activity. This can be inside or outside if you can do it safely.

You could follow Joe Wicks and his daily workout

You could complete some fitness dance through either Just Dance or the Fitness Marshall

Or alternatively you could complete a workout through fitter future. You should all have your log ons (if not, drop us an emailJ)

Finally you might like just to complete a 3k walk – just make sure you wrap up warm!

Think about feelings. What is a feeling? What is an emotion? Write down as many emotions that you can think of, try and decide groups for them. With someone in your home, show them an emotion using your facial expression. Can the other person guess which one you’re showing them?

When you’ve practised your facial expressions, choose 3 emotions and draw them.

If you feel like you’re missing your friends – why not send them an email?
On PurpleMash you can use: to send messages to anyone in Year 4.

Please remember to send us any work you complete at some point during the day on either PurpleMash or through to either or

We miss you and can’t wait to see you soon!
