Success Criteria:

Use description

Focus on the 5 senses

Use a thesaurus

Look through the poem Snow Leopard and pick out words used for effect

  • Why has the poet used this word?
  • What effect does it have?
  • What does it mean?
  • What other word choices could they have picked?

Discuss the importance of words in poetry to convey meaning

Choose words from the poem to create a synonym list using a thesaurus

  • If you do not own a thesaurus, use thesausus.com

Activities:

Salt crystals

Dissolve salt in water

Leave in a tray for water to evaporate – salt crystals to form

You will need to start this in the morning (I suggest also, putting the investigation next to a window in the sunlight - may speed things up)

  • Keep diary throughout the day with photos/drawings/labels/written to observe changes
