Activities for Tuesday
LO: to explore the key features of an explanation text
Recap the features of explanation texts. Why do we have these type of texts? Are they important?
Next think about the key features of explanation texts
What are the features?
You need to include these things:
Title – tells you what you’re reading about at the start
Opening Paragraph – first paragraph simply introduces the thing that is going to be explained
Technical Vocabulary – words and phrases that you only see linked to profession or purpose
Chronological order – time order
Conjunctions – words that link two sentences together
Process in stages – explains things in a logical order and grouping
Present Tense – happening now
Conclusion – wraps up and summarises the text
Using the Features of Explanation Texts
Colour code the examples
Choose 10 words from the 3/4 word list and use them in a sentence. If you want to do a little extra you might want to do some rainbow writing, pyramid spelling, an acrostic poem or a nonsense story.
Think about your favourite book. Why is it? What grabbed your attention?
The front cover!
Front covers are what readers look at first. If it is not interesting or relatable to the story.
Your task for today is to design a new front cover for your favourite book.
Today in Maths we are continuing to work on decimals and subtraction but now we are focusing on taking away money. Like yesterday think about how you can use money in different ways like how many ways can you make 50p or £2? How many pence are there in £30.
Once you finish there is some subtraction problems to work through.
There’s an extension as usual if you finish.
If you want to practise your times tables why not have a go at TTRS or one of these games: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/7-11-years/times-tables
Complete a fitness based activity. This can be inside or outside if you can do it safely.
You could follow Joe Wicks and his daily workout
You could complete some fitness dance through either Just Dance or the Fitness Marshall
Or alternatively you could complete a workout through fitter future. You should all have your log ons (if not, drop us an emailJ)
Finally you might like just to complete a 3k walk.
What different types of relationships are there? Friendships/Parent and Child / Teacher and student…
What is a relationship?
What are some common characteristics of a healthy relationship and characteristics of an unhealthy relationship? What are the benefits of a healthy relationship? What controllable and uncontrollable factors affect relationships?
Throughout our lives we develop many different relationships with different people.
I’d like you to create a poster showing all of the different types of relationships that you may come across in your life.
If you feel like you’re missing your friends – why not send them an email?
On PurpleMash you can use: https://www.purplemash.com/app/links/2email#/inbox to send messages to anyone in Year 4.
We miss you and can’t wait to see you soon!
