Activities for Wednesday
To plan for writing
Over the next few days, you will be writing your presentation using the techniques we have looked at.
Your final work might include pictures, graphs, diagrams, opening times etc.
Picture a person you know, who is your age. You must keep this person in mind throughout the writing process as this is who you are trying to persuade.
Choose a location that you want to persuade people to go to. It might be a place you enjoy, a holiday spot, an activity you like to do… The possibilities are endless!
Today you will be completing a plan to help you with your writing
You will need to choose a location and complete these boxes I have saved a completed version which you can use to help.
BOX 1: Some reasons people would want to go
BOX 2: A problem some people may have and how it can be solved
BOX 3: How you can show everyone why it is so good!
BOX 4: Things to see! Why shouldn't you miss it!
BOX 5: What can you have to remember your trip, food souvenirs
BOX 6: What might this trip inspire you to become or do
Choose 10 words from the 3/4 word list and use them in a sentence. If you want to do a little extra you might want to do some rainbow writing, pyramid spelling, an acrostic poem or a nonsense story.
It’s time for another challenge! The aim is to read the text in 60 seconds! You should then have 5 minutes to answer the questions that come with it. There are 4 different ones available! We would suggest you do at least 2 today.
In maths we are continuing our work on graphs and charts moving onto more focused work on line graphs. To start with I would go through the Introducing Line Graphs PowerPoint then move onto the second PowerPoint if you’d like to explore more examples.
Today the graphs will mostly be based around time and distance though there are some other challenges in the extension.
If you want to practise your times tables why not have a go at TTRS or one of these games: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/7-11-years/times-tables
See the video below!
This is going to be based around Creative Problem Solving.
We are going to give you a choice of problem each week and we would like to see how you will solve it.
Problem 1 – We would like you to find a way to cover both of your feet but you are not allowed to use socks or shoes and the foot cover cannot be traditional – you need to be able to walk at least ten steps!
Problem 2 – Make a garden accessory using things you can find at home. Check the document below for more details.
If you feel like you’re missing your friends – why not send them an email?
On PurpleMash you can use: https://www.purplemash.com/app/links/2email#/inbox to send messages to anyone in Year 4.
We miss you and can’t wait to see you soon!
