Activities for Wednesday

To understand a story type

Go through the PowerPoint ‘Features of a Play’


Think about what makes a play interesting you can think of a film as a form of a play it’s just a recorded version they both use a script.

Read through Little Red Riding Hood using different voices for the different characters.


If you want you could use simple puppets to act it out.

Choose 10 words from the 3/4 word list and use them in a sentence. If you want to do a little extra you might want to do some rainbow writing, pyramid spelling, an acrostic poem or a nonsense story. 


It’s time for another challenge! The aim is to read the text in 60 seconds! You should then have 5 minutes to answer the questions that come with it. There are 4 different ones available all based around the earth and the animals on it – this should help with your science learning too! We would suggest you do at least 2 today.


Today we will be continuing our fraction work moving onto adding and subtracting fractions. As we have done for previous days, we have attached a PowerPoint to support your understanding which should allow you to have a go. Remember you’re focusing on adding the numerators.

If you finish there are some additional challenges for you to have a go at, these are labelled as EXTENSION on the files below.

Why do we have teeth? What is their purpose?

Use a mirror to look at your teeth – how many teeth have you got? How many milk ones and how many permanent teeth?

Humans have two sets of teeth – milk (about 20 teeth) and permanent (about 32 teeth) Why do you think humans have two sets of teeth in a lifetime?

You have:
Molars – crushing and grinding
Canines – gripping and tearing
Incisors – snipping and cutting

How are the teeth type shapes suitable for their purpose?

There is a teeth labelling activity for you to have a go at or you might like to make your own set of 3D (vampire) teeth.

This is going to be based around Creative Problem Solving.

We are going to give you a choice of problem each week and we would like to see how you will solve it.

Make a utensil to eat your food. The type of food you’re eating is totally your choice. Be creative and try not to make a mess!
