Plan a free verse poem based on an environment

Choice of: sea / beach / snow / pond / swamp / city

 

What type of language do we need to include in poems?

Senses – what are the 5 senses? (hear / see / smell / feel / taste)

What is figurative language? Language that helps to build a vivid picture and description which enables you to feel as though you are there

  • Personification (giving an object human actions)
  • Simile (saying something is like something else – comparing)
  • Adjective (describing words)
  • Onomatopoeia (words which sound like the noise they would make
  • Alliteration (2 or more words next to each other with the same letter at the beginning)
