PE
For PE on Wednesday's we will be re-looking at PE with Joe so lets have a quick re-cap of what his workouts were like. Remember you can also use this time to go for a run or a walk with a family member.
L.O - To empathise with characters.
Today, you will be finding out about children’s experiences of evacuation. Most are from a first person perspective.
Begin by watching the video from the Imperial War Museum, this has footage of evacuation/evacuees and a clear background of the process and what it would have been like. Then read the first person accounts on the PDF.
A lot of the accounts talk about the excitement of travelling to the countryside for the first time, seeing animals, fresher air etc.
Activity: Write a diary from the perspective of an evacuee. You could include the journey away from parents, being taken to their ‘foster’ parents, being in the county and comparing it to the smog and grime of the city. Include emotions and experiences they have had. Use the written accounts you have read as inspiration!
Today we are going to think about the impact of vocabulary on the reader. You will need to think about how the vocabulary is used to create different atmospheres and why certain words or phrases have been used. You will also need to justify your own point of view.
Maths
For maths today, you will be revising square and cube numbers. This is to help you with understanding the topic Volume.
A square number is a number multiplied by itself. This can also be called 'a number squared'.
A cube number is a number multiplied by itself 3 times. This can also be called 'a number cubed'.
PSHE
For PSHE this week, we are going to continue looking at 'Mental Health' It is important that we look after our physical and mental health, especially during such difficult times. This week's focus is about 'Recapping our learning'. Using the health and well being tab which I have linked below, trial some of the activities. This is especially useful to aid your sleeping, getting back into a routine and any back to school anxieties.
