Galley Hill Primary School, Hemel Hempstead. 'Value of the Month - 'CARING'

Wednesday

Hi Everyone
We hope that after the first two days you have managed to get back into your routines.
I forgot to say YIPEE to fantastic announcements from Mr Boris Johnson, we're counting down the days till the 8th March now πŸ€žπŸΌπŸ˜‰ and can't wait to see you all!

We are just amazed with all the things you have been sharing and how different they are. Thank you so much. We hope you will all enjoy looking at them as much as we did πŸ‘Œ There is a mixture of everything: maths, recording of weights, rockets ideas, children going to the space. There are also answers to some of your questions from your friends.

The plan for today is to have even more fun than yesterday. As we are learning about the Space I thought we could learn a song. I must say, I can't stop singing that song Sun, Moon and Stars Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcUyDAO1Fk0

Phonics: watch the flashcards and join in with the challenge. Can you beat the score of 26?
We will continue to focus on Phase 4, revise the sounds learnt so far in Phase 2 and 3 and revise Tricky and High Frequency words. We will look at more clusters and today we will be looking at ‘gl’. Have a go saying the sounds very slow then very quick. Remember, they don’t make new sound, they are just 'squashed' together so we have to say the sounds quicker. Have a go reading the words with the children. What do they mean? Can you use them in a sentence? Say it. You can have a go writing it if you feel confident. Watch Miss Edmonds video for more information and more ideas.
There are also games to play on Phonicsplay.

Literacy: watch the video of Miss Edmonds writing a list with the children. What is a list? When would you write a list? Can you draw and write your list of things you would take with you on your adventure to the πŸͺπŸŒ–? It could be just a picture and the initial sound: 🍎 a, 🍐p anything is good.

Also, have a listen to a story 'If I were an astronaut' which was recorded from the International Space Station, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wV8yw7iV8w

Maths: what can you use to make your scale? Children at school will be using a plank on the log, the long wooden brick on a small brick, a ruler. Watch the videos and have a go experimenting. Share your ideas with us πŸ€©πŸ˜ƒ

Another fun activity at home you can try is to make a balloon rocket. Follow the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMX7zgaLC0w

Any problems or anything we can help with, please ask! Have a wonderful Wednesday!
