WC: 20th April 2026

This Week’s Learning!

We are so excited to begin our new topic all about Traditional Tales!

We will be starting off with our first Core Book: Jack and the Beanstalk.
Here is the story link if you would like to enjoy it at home together: Jack and the Beanstalk - Debbie and Friends - YouTube.

We will also be discussing the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, focusing on the characters and the events in the story.  We will also be learning to sequence the story.

Nursery Rhyme of the Week

Our rhyme this week is:
🎵 I had a tiny turtle ðŸŽµ - I had a tiny turtle

Maths

In Maths, we are going to be learning about the vocabulary of height.  We will be learning to talk about height, in terms of shortest, shorter, short, tall, taller, tallest etc.  We will be learning to order items by item and talking about what we notice.

Phonics

In Phonics, we will be recapping our learning about initial sounds and introducing a special friend — our Robot Reggie! He will help us begin blending and segmenting in a fun and engaging way.

Woodlands

We will be starting Woodlands again, after our break.  We will be focussing on using the language of height in our Woodlands.  We will be learning to compare items outside in the Woodlands.

Library

We will be changing books on Monday this week.

Please make sure your child brings in:

  • Their orange reading record

  • Their library book

  • Their wordless reading book

We are looking forward to a fantastic week of learning, growing, and fun!

Best wishes,
Mrs Parsons
