25th May 2018
Dear Parent/Carer,
Today (25th May 2018), the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) comes into force in the UK. These are new data protection regulations build upon the Data Protection Act of 1998.
In order to ensure that we comply with the new regulations, we are reviewing our current policies and practices. We are also updating our privacy notices in line with the new requirements and these will soon be available on our school website.
As part of this compliance process, we are also seeking to update the consent forms we have received from parents and these will be sent out again after half term. The new regulations are clear that consent must be up-to-date and clearly recorded. From now on, lack of response cannot be interpreted as implied consent. We therefore ask that you return these to us promptly.
To learn more about the General Data Protection Regulation, please visit the Information Commissioner’s Office website on http://ico.org.uk
Yours sincerely

Dear Parents/Carers
As your child is now approaching the end of their time at primary school we would like to organise a treat for them. On Wednesday 18 July, we would like to take all of Year 6 children to LEGOLAND.
The cost of the trip will be £20.00 and this includes entry to the park and transport there and back.
The water park will be open depending on weather, so the children can bring their swimwear and towel if they wish to go in.
The children may take a maximum of £10 spending money on the day.
All children must be dressed in school uniform along with comfortable shoes and a waterproof jacket and a poncho for the water rides if they have one.
The coach will be leaving the school at 9.00am and aims to return at approx. 6.30pm. We will keep you fully informed regarding the return journey.
The children will need a packed lunch (NO glass bottles, cans or sweets please). Please ensure that all bags are clearly labelled. Please do not send the children's lunch in a lunchbox as they are awkward to carry and will need to be carried around all day. Children can bring their lunches in a rucksack as this will be easier to carry their belongings around in.
Those children who receive Free School Meals can be provided with a pre-ordered packed lunch on the day. Please specify below if you wish your child to order one.
As the children will be representing the school, we will have high expectations of behaviour. Any child whose behaviour is inappropriate between now and the trip will lose their place and no refund will be offered!
As this is not an educational trip ALL children will be required to pay the full amount by Friday 29 June at the very latest. This trip cannot be subsidised by the school as it is purely a treat. If your child does not wish to go, they must still come into school as normal on that day.
We very much hope that the trip will go ahead as we think it will be a great way to finish Year 6.
Yours sincerely
Miss Hosein Dr Inglis

Dear Parents/Carers
We have arranged to take the Year 4 children for indoor Ski and Snowboard taster sessions at the Hemel Snow Centre on Tuesday 5 June 2018.
The children will be leaving after morning registration and returning at lunchtime. They will have their lunch at school as normal.
All children should come to school dressed in their school uniform. However, please ensure that your child brings in a change of clothes which includes thick, warm clothing, spare socks, gloves and either wellies or snow boots. Please send them in with a water bottle as well, if they do not have one at school.
The cost of this will be £13.00 per child. This covers the transportation, the qualified instructors and the equipment hire.
This can be paid via the School Gateway online payment system, cash or cheque (Please make cheques payable to Galley Hill Primary School)
Please kindly fill in the permission slip below, with payment and return it to school by Monday 4 June 2018.
Yours sincerely

Dear Parents/Carers
As part of our PSHE topic on ‘Health and Wellbeing’ this term we are learning about managing risks. Our lesson next week is focusing the importance of protecting personal information, including passwords, addresses and the distribution of images of themselves and others.
We will be using resources from the NSPCC website which link to this topic and use short cartoon video clips to support our discussions. Please find the link below.
https://www.nspcc.org.uk/preventing-abuse/keeping-children-safe/share-aware/
we will be watching the ‘share aware’ clip and Alex and Lucy’s videos which are at the bottom of the page.
We will be watching all three video clips which introduce the ideas of thinking about the images they share, the information they share and the possible consequences of those actions. There are also links and useful information to support you as parents to have these discussions at home.
We hope to share this learning with all of the children however, if you would prefer your child(ren) not to watch these clips please complete the slip below and return it to your child’s class teacher. They will still be able to participate in the lesson but will leave the room for this short section. If we do not receive a slip we will presume that they can participate fully.
Yours Sincerely
Mrs D Spooner Miss H Duggan
