  • Year 6 Legoland Trip

    Wed 17 Jul 2019

    14 June 2016

    Dear Parents/Carers

As your child is now approaching the end of their time at primary school, we would like to organise a treat for them. On Wednesday 17 July, we would like to take all of Year 6 children to LEGOLAND.

The cost of the trip will be £23.00 and this includes entry to the park and transport there and back.

Please note that the school will be subsidising this trip to help with the cost.

The water park will be open depending on weather, so the children can bring their swimwear and towel if they wish to go in.

The children may take a maximum of £10 spending money on the day.

This can be paid online via the School Gateway payment system along with giving parental consent. If you require assistance downloading the app, please see below or pop into the office.

Cash or cheque are also accepted. Please can cheques be made payable to Galley Hill Primary School.

All children must be dressed in school PE top along with shorts/trousers, comfortable shoes and a waterproof jacket. They may bring a poncho for the water rides if they have one. We are asking children to wear their PE top because the colour enables us to easily identify them when in the theme park. If your child no longer has one, please ask the class teacher to arrange a spare from the classroom bag.

The coach will be leaving the school at 9.00am and aims to return at approx. 6.30pm. We will keep you fully informed regarding the return journey. Please ensure your child knows whether to walk home or wait to be picked up, as there was some confusion after our most recent trip.

The children will need a packed lunch on the day. However, they can bring their lunches in a rucksack as this will be easier to carry around all day.   NO GLASS BOTTLES, CANS OR SWEETS PLEASE.

Those children who receive Free School Meals can be provided with a pre-ordered packed lunch on the day. Please state via School Gateway.

As the children will be representing the school, we will have high expectations of behaviour. Any child whose behaviour is inappropriate between now and the trip will lose their place and no refund will be offered!

As this is not an educational trip, ALL children will be required to pay the full amount by Friday 5 July at the very latest. If no payment has been received, your child will not be able to attend the trip. If your child does not wish to go, they must still come into school as normal on that day.

    Yours sincerely

  • Year 2 Southend Trip

    Tue 16 Jul 2019

    15th May 2019

    Dear Parents/Carers

We have arranged to take the Year 2 children on a trip to Southend.  This will take place on Tuesday 16th July 2019.  Our topic this term is the Seaside for both History and Geography.  Children will be learning about what Seaside’s were like in the past and now in the present. As part of this topic we would like children to experience the day at the seaside.

Due to the expense of the coach travel to Southend, The Hemel Lions have kindly donated £400 to the school towards this trip.

The cost of this trip will be £15.55 per child which includes the remainder of the coach travel, entrance to the Sealife Centre, a workshop, and a treat of ice cream. The rest of the day will be spent at the beach before returning to school.

We hope to have a warm sunny day therefore all children must be dressed in a blue PE Top and a school sweatshirt/cardigan or fleece; children can wear shorts, leggings or trousers and please ensure comfortable footwear is worn. Children will need a sun hat and cream applied before school. We also advise that you keep track of the weather report so that appropriate clothing is worn.

The coach will be leaving the school at 9.15am and aims to return at approx. 17.00pm.

We will be returning later than normal to give us more time at the seaside and allow for busy traffic on the journey home.

The children will need a packed lunch on the day. However, they can bring their lunches in a rucksack as this will be easier to carry around all day. NO GLASS BOTTLES, CANS OR SWEETS PLEASE.

Those children who receive Free School Meals, can pre-order one via the School Gateway app.

This trip can be paid online via the School Gateway payment system along with giving parental consent. If you require assistance downloading the app, please see below or pop into the office. You can also pay by Cash at the office if you would prefer.  You are more than welcome to pay instalments if this is more suitable, however the full balance must be paid by Monday 1st July.

Please can we make you aware that when trips are arranged, the cost is based on the total number of children in that particular year/class group. Depending on venue, we usually have to pay in advance. If for any reason your child is not in school on the day of the trip, unfortunately, we will not be able to refund you as payment to the venue and transport will have already been paid for.

Thank you for your support in this matter.  Unfortunately, if insufficient funds are received, the trip will have to be cancelled. If you have any queries or difficulties paying this, please contact the office.

We may require some parent helpers for the trip. They will be asked to lead a small group of children. If you feel you are able to do this, please let the class teachers know.

    Yours sincerely

    Dear Parents/Carers

We are holding a sleepover for Year 4 at school on Friday 5 July 2019.

The main purpose for this for this is to give the children a chance to spend a night away from home with school before PGL in Year 6, but close enough to home to feel confident.

The children will arrive at school on Friday where they will take part in activities all day. Children need to come to school in non-school uniform. Your child will need to bring an overnight bag, sleeping bag, pillow and sleeping mat with them. They will then stay overnight, the boys in Coral and Opal Class and the girls in Sapphire and Onyx class.

You will need to collect your child at 10:00am on Saturday morning from the Office.

Overnight, the children will be supervised by Miss Featherstone, Mr Kain, Miss Friend, Mrs Olley Mrs Thompson and Dr Inglis.

We will be ordering pizza and chips for dinner and toast marshmallows on a campfire. We will have either cereal or toast for breakfast in the morning. After dinner, the children will all come to the big hall and watch a movie (PG Certificate) before bed – children are welcome to bring extra snacks, please put this in their overnight bags (no fizzy/energy drinks or nut related snacks)

Our activities will include things such as rounders, frisbee, rock climbing, sticky archery, water activities and inflatables.

As a reminder, children are NOT ALLOWED TO BRING ANY ELECTRICAL DEVICES.

In order to cover costs for the event, we are asking for a contribution of £8.50 per child.

If your child requires any regular medicines, please hand them to the class teacher on the morning of the sleepover with a completed medicine administration form, which can be collected from the school office.

    Yours Sincerely
