Galley Hill Primary School, Hemel Hempstead     Value of the Month - 'RESPECT'

We have some new class mates joining us!

Please meet Clara, Bob, Bobby, Big Bob and Bob Junior our new class pets.

Watch this space to see how they develop.

Today they are settling in to their new home and are very sleepy from their travels.

A big change is taking place! The caterpillars have turned still at the top of the lid, ready to transform into Chrysalides. The Chrysalides will harden and then be moved to the butterfly habitat (mesh netting). After 7-14 days they shall have transformed into Painted Lady Butterflies as they emerge from their Chrysalides.

Team Onyx have been fascinated by how quickly the caterpillars have grown after only one week!

Mini Police Programme

Year 5 have been visited every Friday by local PCSOs to learn about keeping safe in their local area. They have learned about bullying, anti-scoail behaviour, online safety and will be learning about the environment.

Working Walls

In Maths, this half-term we are focusing on fractions.

In English, we have been exploring the book, 'Kensuke's Kingdom'.

Science - testing materials

In Science, we have been testing materials for their properties.

Some enquiries have included:

  • Which materials are best for insulating hot drinks?
  • Why would a chocolate teapot be a problem?
  • Which materials are best for conducting electricity?

The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe - C. S. Lewis

In Guided Reading, we are reading 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' by C. S. Lewis.

Do you think Mr Tumnus is brave in this book?
